See me Roar!!!

Well actually you won't often see me roar and I don't expect this cute little tiger roars very loud either.

Its some time since I sat and coloured and made a card just because.  I have to say it was very pleasant.  I have been practising colouring fur so chose this image from LeeHIllustrations available on etsy.  Its super cute and when I started colouring it without doing the face I was unsure whether it was a child dressed as a tiger.  It so easily could be coloured that way.  May have to do another version.

The image is coloured in pencil.  Its not a quick process but its satisfying.  The background is done using distress oxides and a fern leaf stencil.  Its subtle but thats what I wanted. The grass is also coloured in pencil.

My design is simple.  A die cut circle from some green card stock which I stencilled using the fern leaf again.  The sentiment is popped up on foam and I added a few green sequins to finish it off.

The circle die and tropical leaf stencil are both from Frantic Stampers own brand.

I have to say he's somewhat cute!!!

Mermaid wishes and starfish kisses

Today I am sharing a card featuring a cute little image available at LOTV.  I posted a few days back about Digital Stamp Boutique having a new home at Lili of the Valley and this is one on the new images just released.  She is called Mermaid Daydream.

I went with what I think as classic mermaid colours purple, aqua and orange.  Don't know if they really are but this is the colour of mermaids in my mind.  The digital sentiment is printed straight onto the background.  I coloured and fussy cut the mermaid and sand along with the little fish and popped them up slightly on foam tape.  I then drew in the little bubbles.

I used a piece of purple cardstock to back the card.  Purple seemed to give the best lift to the image.  She's a cutie and there are several more little mermaids available in the LOTV store now.

Im popping her in the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Fun in the Sun Challenge

Time for a new Southern Girls Challenge!

Yes its time for a new Southern Girls Challenge.  This round its a tic tac toe challenge.  We have lovely sponsors and I used an image from A Day for Daisies called Hepburn Dress.  Its just such a classy image.  Pop over to the blog for all the details.  I used the line white, stamp and ink.

I chose the sentiment You are Strong, You are Beautiful, not only because its perfect with this image but because I made this card for a friend who is about to undergo aggressive radiotherapy.  It just seems so appropriate on so many levels.

She is coloured in pencil and I went for grey with a blue undertone because I didn't want a soft colour I wanted a stronger colour but not black.  If that makes any sense at all.

We love seeing all you creations so look forward to you joining the challenge.

Thanks for your visit.

Lili of the Valley welcomes Digi Stamp Boutique

If you are a fan of Digi Stamp Boutique you'll be thrilled to hear they have been welcomed into the Lili of the Valley family.

This from Lili of the Valley
"Sally Ann Hancock, owner of Digi Stamp Boutique, has built up a great following for her beautiful digi stamps over the last ten years - and we're not surprised! They really are so endearing, cute and useful for so many occasions. Sally Ann now wants to concentrate on designing, rather than the job (and stresses) of running a business which we totally understand. We were delighted when she asked us earlier in the year if we would find a home for her precious images here at LOTV and of course we said yes! We will be launching some of Sally Ann's beautiful new designs on Tuesday 10th July like this super sweet little mermaid and hippo, as well as the vast majority of DSB's catalogue too! So now you will have even more to choose from!"

You'll have to pop back to see the mermaid or head over to LOTV but here is a card made with one of the new little Hippos. The image and sentiment are printed directly onto the card and the image is coloured with pencil.  I added a few polka dots to the present and stencilled some bricks in behind to create a wall.  Finishing touch is a few enamel dots.  He's such a little cutie I just love his sweet little face.

I'm in the process of making  card using the Mermaid, you'll love her, so pop back in a
day or so for another look.

See you then

Bitty summer postage stamps

I had fun with this die set of Bitty Summer Postage Stamps from Frantic Stamper.  It contains a heart, a star and a sun in a little postage stamp frame.  So many uses for this set either together or apart.

I cut the set several times in different colours to be able to mix and match them to form the background of my card. You could use the shapes by themselves or the stamp frame separately.  I chose to use both and popped the shapes up on foam for a little dimension.  The sentiment is from a new set called Retro Label Maker, loving this style of sentiment.  It is stamped in reverse so the background is coloured and the words the colour of the cardstock.  This die set would be a great little set to have for that little extra something that you sometimes need to finish a project

New challenge at Southern Girls

A new challenge goes live today at Southern Girls.  Its a favourite "Anything Goes" Challenge.  We all know how those work, right?  Pop on over to the blog for all the details and look forward to seeing all your lovely entries.

My card features an image from Lacy Sunshine, one of the generous sponsors  for this challenge.  Heather Valentin is the artist and she has some amazing images to choose from so be sure to take a look.  This image is coloured using pencil.  I die cut an oval in the design paper and popped it uo on foam with the image behind, I used a scalloped edger to cut both sides for a little extra detail.  I added several little blooms around the oval before finishing with a few pearl stars.

Look forward to seeing your creation in the challenge.

Come back again soon

Sweet Summertime

The June release from Frantic Stamper is Summertime and Leisure time.  Its not very summery temperature wise here but today its the perfect winters day.  Blue skies, cold, crisp and clear. Although we have had a lot of rain the last day or so and the next few ahead are forecast to be just like today.  If you can find a patch of sunshine its just beautiful.

Todays card features a new die set called Day at the Beach.  It contains the classic icons we would associate with a day at the beach.  Bucket, spade, ball and sandcastle.  As teenagers my children still like to build at the beach.  Their sandcastles are much larger and more elaborate than as littlies and their spades are more like the big garden variety these days but the lure of the sand is still there.

I chose a piece of design paper that reminds me of the beach and cut a circle from it.  I then blended a piece of white in matching colours to place behind.  I stamped my sentiment and die cut a sandcastle placing it to show in the background.  I then cut the ball, bucket and spade to create a little trio in front of the circle.  Finishing up with a swirl of pearls to represent the waves and bring the card together.

There are lots of wonderful dies in this release so be sure to pop to the store and check them out.

Thanks for your visit today.
