You can never have too many sentiment strips

Its quite true you can never have too many sentiment strip dies.  This new set from Frantic Stamper fills loads of sentiment issues.  Sometimes you just don't want to stamp straight onto the card.  Or if you are like me sometimes you need to cover your sentiment stamping.  These strips and shapes are perfect for the job.  Of course there is the added bonus of not having to use them just for sentiments and having the ability to cut the shape and place your sentiment behind.  Really very useful dies these are.

My card today used the torn wash strip, which comes in 2 sizes, and the stitched oval.  I simply cut the washi strips in various design paper, perfect for scraps, and glued them at various lengths to form my background panel.  Using the stitched oval I then cut out the shape placing my sentiment behind.  The stitching on this die is on the cut out piece.  The card panel is popped up on foam so it doesn't sit flat against the sentiment.

Its finished off with a few flowers cut using the bloom from the Basket Bonnet Treat Cup set, with some rhinestones for the centres.

Love in black and white.

Hi hope you having a great day where ever in the world you may be.  I'm on the Kennedy Grace Creations blog today sharing a card in black and white, with a touch of pink.

This is one of those creations that started out as one thing and went totally of track and became another.  I have to say though I actually really like the way it turned out.  It wasn't supposed to be just black and white but it works really well.

I stamped the image which is one of my favourite Kennedy Grace Creations stamps. Beautiful Blooms - Sweet Rose, onto white card stock.  I did this on two pieces of card.  One image I intended on colouring and couldn't decide whether to colour the whole image and cut out the letters or cut out and colour just the letters.  This is where it went off in its own direction as I cut out the letters and when I placed them on the image to see how they matched I really liked the simplicity of the black and white.  I cut the letters again in foam and glued the letters on so they came up off the image in the background.

I then stamped the black you which catches the eye and draws it up to the LOVE word.  To soften the card I added a small strip of pink and white stripe down the side.  I was going to add sequins but as you can see in the end I left them off.

New challenge at Southern Girls

Happy New Year to all our Southern Girl followers.  There is a new challenge up and running and its all about round embellishments.  So I guess that encompasses everything from buttons to sequins, pearls and enamel dots.

We have 2 lovely sponsors and my card uses a Stamp set called Monster Fun by Gerda Steiner Designs available at Krafters Cart right here in NZ.  I stamped the little cupcakes all over a piece of white card stock in soft grey ink.  My hairy monster is coloured in pencil, before being fussy cut and popped up on foam.  He's pretty cute for a scary monster, but I don' think I mess with him over cake.

I have these tiny cute little buttons, which are a few years old now,  of which I would love to find more, so I randomly placed them onto the background, for not only colour but to add my circular embellishment too.

Now pop back to Southern Girls and enter the challenge, we love to see all your creations.

Oliver passed his test!!

Oliver from LOTV has passed his driving test.  A new image from Lili of the Valley released on Monday.  Now our L plates here are yellow, not sure what colour they are in the rest of the world.  So this is a kiwi version 😊

Oliver and Jasmine are great images for teenagers and relevant to their modern lifestyle.  Although this is Oliver there is also a Jasmine version too.  And there is a launch bundle deal.  Pop to the LOTV website to see these and other lovely images in rubber, digital and pre coloured simply print.

Oliver is coloured in pencil and although my car was supposed to be white I kind of overdid the shading to get some depth and dimension and it ended up being more of a grey car...but thats okay.

Oliver Texting

There are some new Oliver and Jasmine stamps being released on January 15th, including Oliver Texting.  Some are rubber some are digital and some are simply print...something for everyone.  There's not a lot of "teen" friendly images around so these Lili of the Valley images fit the bill perfectly.

As the mother of twin teens this image is absolutely spot on,  dare I say it I see my son in this pose frequently.  I thought the "thinking of you" sentiment went really well with this image.

Both the image and the sentiment are digi prints.  I used pencil to colour Oliver, keeping my layout very simple I added a strip of blue and white pinstripe and a fine strip of black.  Nothing fussy, which is what most teens seem to like, well boys anyway.

As I mentioned these images will be released on the 15th January.  I'll have another card with a different image to share shortly.

Flowers, sequins and buttons.

I'm on the Kennedy Grace Creations blog today with a card inspired by the January tic tac toe board, using the line, flowers, sequins and buttons.

My card features the stamp set called Kindness Medley.  I started by cutting the window in my white cardstock.  I just happened to have a scrap of the gold/yellow paper sitting on my desk so popped that in behind my window.  I had stamped the sentiment first then cut a piece of foam to raise the card from the sentiment square.  The flowers were stamped in steel grey ink and coloured using pencil.  I proceeded to fussy cut them close to the lines and decided not to use the leaves.

Sunshine on the daisies was the perfect sequin blend to add to my card.  I realised I had not used any buttons so the obvious place was the flower centres.  After a lot of contemplation I need up using only the one button in the centre of the middle flower.  Sometimes less is definitely more.

A basket of spring

Its a bit hard to think about spring when we are in the middle of summer and have yet to get through another Autumn and Winter but hopefully this basket of spring will be enjoyed by my friends in the Northern hemisphere, where spring will soon be with you.

This is a new Frantic Stamper die set called Bonnet Basket Treat Cup.  The idea is to use it in conjunction with a little plastic treat cups (available in store) to create, baskets or bonnets.  You can customise them for birthdays, weddings, baby showers, valentines,  any occasion really.  Fill the cups with little treats or candies.

For something a little different I turned the treat cup into a spring basket.  The flower die that comes with the set was used to cut felt shapes to form the blooms in my basket.  I started by cutting a strip of paper to sit inside the treat cup to hide the circle of blu tac I placed in the bottom to secure my stems, which are poked through holes in the lid made with a skewer.  I cut lengths of florist wire and hot glued this between two flowers.  The centre of the flowers are small felted balls which I cut in half.  Again hot glued in place.

The leaves are from the little branch also in the set.  Simply cut to form individual leaves and hot glued randomly up the stem.  To cover the lid I pulled apart some wool felt to form a moss like base around the stems.

To finish the little basket I cut three of the smallest petite butterflies from felt and scattered them in amongst the blooms.   The completed basket stands about 4 inches high, perfect to brighten a little corner anywhere.  Your'e going to love this die set, so many possibilities for using it.

Here's a picture of some black and white, "His and Hers" cups, perfect for wedding favours. I used the handle to form the collar and circle cut outs from the brim for buttons.  On the top I stamped Mr & Mrs onto the little banner die included in the set. These are filled with black and white jelly beans.

Cuddly Bunny

There is a new release at Frantic Stamper to get you ready to make Easter and Spring projects.  One of the new dies is called Cuddly Bunny.  Its such a great die with loads of ways to use.  You can have ears up or down even one up and one down if you choose.

On my card today I have used the body and feet for the front of my card and the head face and arms for the inside.  So many different ways to create bunny projects.  I started by die cutting a heart shape as I wanted my bunny jumping through to show off those cute little feet.  I used a little felt ball for that rascally tail.  I duplicated the heart panel on the inside but used other pieces to have the bunny popping into the card.  I couldn't use any dimension on the inside of the card but you could make a cute tag using the same idea. Lots of possibilities with this set.
