Impurrfect pussy cat

I'm sharing a very bright and cheerful pussy cat card today.  Love this sentiment "Lets be Impurrfect together!"  This is from the Simply Sweet Stamps,  digi set called Purrfect.  I had a little bit of fun with this one.  Its a Kathy Rac colouring style inspired image.  I used lots of little black lines and white dots to add a little character and to work in with the background paper I chose to use.

It was a very quick and easy card to make, which is not something I am usually very good at, but it just all came together.  I offset the cut for the sentiment thinking it really shouldn't be perfectly lined up and also placed the quirky cat to one side for the same reason.    These images just scream quirkiness and I really enjoyed going along that line with the bright bold colours.

I'd just like to mention that if you are new to digital images or would like some help and guidance, as I know digis scare a lot of people, there is a tab on the Lili of the Valley home page called "How To" with a big question mark.  Its worth a look if you are considering giving digital stamps a go.

On the Washing Line.

Look what's on the Washing line.  Its a bunny, a baby bunny.  This is another of the New Beginnings digital stamps from Lili of the Valley.  Available also as a pre coloured Simply Print.  Isn't it cute?

I tried to stay gender neutral with a yellow colour pallet but ended up adding a little pink.  I love yellow but its one of those colours that seems to need to go with another.  I always remember when making quilts, yellow was a colour you added as an accent only as it has a tendency to overpower.

My layout is pretty simple.  I know I've said it before but often LOTV images really need little embellishing, that's my opinion anyway.  This is such a lovely image that I simply added some backing paper and a little paper bow on the sentiment.  The sentiment is also a digi from this release.  I do love that old typewriter style font.

If you are looking for baby images go check out the New Beginnings release, its pretty cute, you won't be disappointed.

Birthday Wishes

I'm sharing a simple Happy birthday card today using images from Simple Sweet Stamps Pretty Flowers digital stamp set.

I used a couple of different images, the oval floral and the stitched rectangle,  and merged them together.  I then chose the birthday wishes and the with love sentiments and placed these inside the blank space of the oval.  In all the Birthday wishes plaque uses 4 separate digital stamps, all placed and merged together before printing.   I also printed several small butterflies.  All are coloured in pencil before fussy cutting around the plaque and the butterflies.

The plaque is simply placed onto a piece of lavender card stock then popped up on foam and adhered to the card base which is also placed onto a piece of slightly darker purple card stock.  The little butterflies are then placed randomly to finish and add colour to the card.

A quick, easy and pretty little birthday card.

Fizzy, Soda, Pop, Soft Drink

Interesting how we refer to drinks with bubbles as fizzy, soda, pop or soft drinks.  Not sure where the names come from but seems depending on where you are from reflects on what you call them.

Frantic Stamper April release is Fun Food.  This die set could double as Soda/Beer/other alcoholic or non-alcoholic beverage bottle or can.  I chose to go quite generic and used a sorbet colour scheme rather than to replicate any type of beverage.  I used the can which comes with a cute little pull tab but there is a bottle and a straw in the set too.

In the release is a set of sentiments that include these little icon stamps and some punny sayings.  These little cans are simple and fun to create and make a quick and easy card.  Make sure you "pop" to Frantic Stamper and take a look at these and all the other wonderful products on offer.

New Beginnings at Lili of the Valley

New Beginnings is the name of the newest set of images at Lili of the Valley.  You may or may not be aware that LOTV have gone away from rubber stamps in favour of digital stamps and pre coloured printable images.  Times are or have changed and whilst many of us still like a rubber stamp, with manufacturing and postal costs, sometimes they just get too expensive.  Add on top a less than favourable exchange rate and the cost can be downright ridiculous.  So digital stamps are a very good alternative.

Anyway back to "New Beginnings"  the cutest range of baby images you can imagine and just in time for the new little Royal baby too. I'm sure Kate would love these.

The image I am sharing today is called Polka Dots.  I've used a neutral mint green with a splash of pink.  Isn't it such a cute image and the added benefit of digital is being able to size it however you like.  I'm in the middle of colouring another called washing line that I'll share in a day or two, but in the meantime go take a look at the LOTV store.

Im going to pop this into the challenge at As You Like It Challenge, which is to use your favourite colouring medium and to explain why its your favourite.

I love to colour in pencil.  I started using Derwent but slowly I changed to prismacolor. I find them softer and easier to blend with.  I really started with pencil by default because Copics were not readily available here and terribly expensive. I tried other cheaper brands of markers but always turned back to my pencils.  Whilst I admire copic colourists and if I won lotto I would buy a set to play with,  I am at heart a pencil girl and enjoy the process involved with pencil colouring.  I have to add here that doing classes with Alyce at Kit and Clowder has definitely enabled me to improve and challenge myself.

Anyone for ice cream???

So is anyone for ice cream?   Well an ice cream sundae or a banana split to be exact.  Today i'm sharing a yummy card using more of the dies from the Frantic Stamper Fun Food release.  I combined  a new and an older die set to create this retro inspired card.

The ice cream sundae die set is part of the new release but it combines really well with the previously released banana split die set.  I used a little bit of grey pencil shading to create the illusion of dimension and shadow.

Ice cream parlours seem to be making a bit of a come back here.  Lots of new and interesting flavours and lots of dairy free and vegan options.  A more modern take on the old pink and white shop fronts and treats loaded with chocolate sauce and lashings of cream with a cherry on the top.

I do agree with the sentiment though, wouldn't it be great if every day was a Sunday?

Time for a new challenge at Southern Girls

Its time for a new challenge at Southern Girls.  We would like to see fairies, fantasy and/or flowers.  Choose one or two or all three for your creation.  We have 2 wonderful sponsors for this challenge so pop over to the challenge blog for all the details.

My card uses an image from Hannah Lynn Art.  Hannah Lynn images are just gorgeous with loads of little details. If you are no familiar with her art its worth taking a look.  This image is called Library Fairy.  She looks like a little fairy that would hang out amongst the books in the public library when its closed.  I have coloured her in pencil keeping the layout pretty simple.  I added a strip of newsprint type paper down the side and a little sentiment popped up on foam with some swirls of pearls and a couple of little paper flowers.  Sometimes I think these detailed images are best left uncluttered.

Now go find your fantasy, fairy or flower images and come join in the challenge.

Bottlecap stamps and dies

Included in the Frantic Stamper Fun Food release is a fun set of stamps called bottlecap alphabet and a bottle cap die that turns them into bottlecaps.  Such a versatile set.  You can use the stamp set just as an alphabet set but its quite fun to turn the letters into bottle caps.  There are 2 other sets that can be mixed and matched.  A set of bottle cap numbers and a set of sentiments that include some bottlecap icons.

I stamped the word friend in fizzy colours and turned them into bottle caps.  I decided to make a square card and used 2 of the icons and a sentiment to fill in the 3rd line.  A quick and easy way to make a fun card using any words or even a persons name.

A useful set to have in your collection.

Magical Hugs

Today I am sharing this cute little unicorn offering up magical hugs from Simply Sweet Stamps. The set is called Unicorns, of course.   Its a digital stamp set so you can size the images and sentiments as big or as small as you like.  I printed the unicorn away from the sentiment as I wanted to fussy cut it out.

I die cut a circle from the card base with the sentiment so I could place some magical clouds in behind.  I inked the clouds using My Favourite Things stencil called Mini cloud edger.  A must have for inking sky backgrounds.  Using stamping ink pads and a blending tool I blended colourful clouds.  Once dry I added glitter along the outline of each cloud for some sparkle.

My card base is popped up on foam so the clouds sit behind the circle with a little dimension.  Once coloured I fussy cut the unicorn and popped him up on foam tape too.  Finishing touch was a few sparkly sequins.

If you like simple yet cute images be sure to check out Simply Sweet Stamps.

Fun Food at Frantic Stamper

The April release at Frantic Stamper is all about Fun Food. Tacos, pizza, ice cream sundaes, hotdogs and more.  Lots of punny stamp sets and even a set to add faces.  A cool alphabet stamp set that fits inside a bottle cap die, cupcakes and a food truck.  Great for all kind of projects.

I'm sharing a card today using the donut die. There is a matching sentiment stamp set with lots of funny little sentiments.  I made a chocolate donut with sprinkles (sprinkle die comes as part of the set).  There is another little die in the set that allow you to cut a bite from the donut which is pretty fun.  My layout is simple and using the sentiment "I donut know what I would do without you!" I turned my card into a thank you card that could so easily accompany a real chocolate donut to say thanks to someone.  Also think this die would make a fun tag.
